Chatting To Garth Barnes Ahead Of Blood Brothers

Blood Brothers 2017 is back at the end of the month. Garth Barnes of Crash Car Burn and Tweak fame is an exciting new addition to this years lineup.

As a new member of Blood Brothers what are you most looking forward to from this show?

I think it’s just a really fun concept! The fact that I will get to play some songs from the early Tweak shows, some from Crash Car Burn and then even some covers is just completely unique. Plus it’s always fun to jam with new musos and these guys are literally the best SA has to offer. Can’t wait!

Why did you decide to be part of Blood Brothers this year?

Wow, that’s like asking why you decided to accept the 81 million rand you won in the lottery! Lol! It’s a no-brainer! A privilege to be considered in the same sentence as these guys.

Having been involved in the local music scene for many years now, what are you thoughts on the scene at the moment?

I won’t lie, its hard for bands right now. Music always moves in cycles. Dance and hip hop are really big at the moment but it does feel like Rock n roll is getting ready to make a comeback. One thing is for sure, there is no shortage of great Rock bands in SA. The quality has just gone through the roof in the last decade, we are right up there with the international acts on offer.

This September, 10 of South Africa’s local rock legends unite as one in the battle against cancer, in support of the Vrede Foundation.

For the third annual BLOOD BROTHERS, South Africa’s first rock supergroup features 6 brand new members to take up arms against their biggest struggle yet.
