Upon the release of his new self-titled album, we caught up with Mathew Gold to find out more.
Congrats on the release of your new album! How does this album differ from your debut album, and what can fans expect from it?
Many people are surprised about the fact that there aren’t any real features on the album. Instead I mainly focused my attention on the producers and working closely on every single stage of the recording process.
You’ve worked with so many great local artists – who have been your favourites, and who locally would you still love to work with?
Locally working with Sketchy Bongo on this new album was such an adventure. We made 2 or 3 songs per day and I havn’t been in that type of zone in years.
Having been around the industry for quite a few years now, what are your thoughts on the local music industry?
I’m loving the talent that we are able to expose and the credibility we are getting across the globe. Our main obstacle as a country was the lack of quality and in 2017 its almost unclear weather a track is local or international.
Where can fans catch you live in the next few months?
Cape Town on 17 June at HQ along side Apple Gule & Strange Loving.
